Strike Force Trident members are investigating the assault of two men which occurred in Wanguri last night.

Detective Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said two men, aged 23 and 47 were walking along Strele Street at around 9:30pm when they were approached by a group of males.

“An argument ensued, resulting in the 47-year-old male being punched to the face, knocking him to the ground,” Detective Senior Sergeant Stringer said.

“The 23-year-old male was then assaulted, before fleeing the area and flagging down a passing motorist.

“Upon returning to the scene, other members of the public were seen assisting the 47-year-old. The offenders had fled the area.

“Police would like these members of the public who assisted, as well as any other witnesses who may have been in the area at the time, to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
