Arrest for possessing child abuse material - Darwin

A 23 year-old Palmerston man has been remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on July 4th for the possession of child abuse material.

Detective Senior Constable First Class Corey Borton from the Online Child Exploitation Investigation Unit said information received from work colleagues of the man resulted in his arrest.

“As a result of the information Police executed two search warrants and seized 10 data storage devices including 3 computers, 3 external hard drives and a smart phone.

“Police will allege they have discovered in excess of 3,700 images of child abuse material on the seized devices.

“The children in these files are offended against time and time again with each download and Police urge anyone who suspects someone of dealing in child abuse material to contact Police on 131 444 or contact Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
