Alleged Cable Cutter Arrested

A 48 year-old man has been arrested and charged with damaging two communication cables in Nightcliff during March and April.

Detective Acting Superintendent Chris Board said a set of secateurs were allegedly found during a search warrant of his home.

“Police will allege the man has gained entry to two communication pits in the Nightcliff area and severed cables to the Police Station and John Stokes Square resulting in an estimated $11,000 repair bill.

“He has been charged with two counts of damage to property, possess ammunition without a permit and possess a dangerous drug.”

The man was bailed to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on Friday the 26th of April.
