Police

A 32-year-old man and a 42 year old woman have been arrested for allegedly taking alcohol into a restricted area.

Remote Sergeant Tom Chalk said Police from Maranboy and Bulman were conducting roadside breath tests along the Central Arnhem Road in the vicinity of Maranboy Police Station at around 8:30pm yesterday.

“During the roadside breath test Police seized a Toyota Troop Carrier after locating 25 litres of alcohol inside the vehicle.

They have been charged with liquor offences, breaching good behaviour bonds and domestic violence offences.

In a separate incident a 48-year-old man was summonsed to appear in court at a later date, also for liquor related offences.

“Police continue to crack down on grog running into remote communities, if Police locate grog in your motor vehicle, the alcohol and your vehicle will be seized,” Remote Sergeant Chalk said.
