Police have charged a 42-year-old man with supplying a commercial quantity of kava during a three day operation in Arnhem Land from 20 November, 2013.
Senior Sergeant Clinton Sims said the operation, targeting liquor, drugs and kava trafficking into Arnhem Land ran from Wednesday 20 November through to Friday 22 November and involved Detectives from the Substance Abuse Intelligence Desk, Dog Operations Unit, and members from Oenpelli, Maranboy and Jabiru Police Stations.
“Police arrested four people including a 42-year-old man on Maningrida Rd, in possession of 97.5kg kava destined for Ramingining.”
The 42-year-old man has been charged with:
Possess a commercial quantity of kava without a license
Supply a commercial quantity of kava without a license
Police also issued nine Liquor Infringement Notices, six Drug Infringement Notices, and eight Traffic Infringement Notices, destroyed 47.5 litres of alcohol and seized 176grams of cannabis in the three day operation.”
