Aggravated Assault - Alice Springs

Members from Strike Force Halberd have charged a 35-year-old man with the alleged assault of a 40 year-old woman in Alice Springs.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said the offender allegedly punched the victim while she was driving, causing the vehicle to crash at around 1:30pm on 21 August.

“Police located the alleged offender at 2:30pm the same day and charged him with aggravated assault and breaching a domestic violence order.”

He was remanded in custody and will appear before Alice Springs Magistrates Court on 5 September.

“Strike Force Halberd commenced on 1 August and includes members from the Domestic Violence Unit and General Duties,” Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said.

“These members are committed to reducing the domestic violence assaults in Alice Springs.

“Strike Force Halberd reflects our commitment to Operational Excellence by focusing on reducing domestic and family violence crime, and enhancing customer service and ensuring professionalism in everything we do.”
