Woman Charged With Attempted Arson - Coconut Grove

Police

Detectives from the Serious Crime Squad have arrested and charged a 27-year-old woman following an incident in Coconut Grove.

Officer in Charge of the Serious Crime Squad, Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board, said Police were called to the area just after midnight on Tuesday morning with reports of a disturbance in Runge Street.

“It is alleged the woman had been at the location earlier in the night and had returned and set curtains and a mattress on fire before fleeing the area,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Board.

“Police attended and extinguished the blaze. Whilst at the location the woman returned to the scene and was immediately arrested.”

“There were three occupants in the house at the time and it is very fortunate no one was injured as a result of her alleged actions.”

She was charged with Attempted Arson, Recklessly Endangering Life and Criminal Damage. She has been granted bail and is set to appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on the 19th of June 2012.
