Woman charged with aggravated assault - Darwin

A 38-year-old woman will appear in court today to face charges of aggravated assault following a stabbing incident which occurred in Darwin City.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board of the Serious Crime Squad said the woman was arrested Tuesday night.

“It is alleged the woman and a group of people were drinking together in the vicinity of the St Mary’s Cathedral on Smith Street at around 8:15pm,” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Board said.

“It will be alleged, that an altercation occurred between the offender and a man, resulting in the 43-year-old male receiving a puncture wound to the back of his leg.

“Police and St John Ambulance members attended and transferred the man to hospital where he remains in a stable condition.

“The 38-year-old was arrested at the scene and charged with aggravated assault and possess a controlled weapon.”
