Woman Charged after Man received burns Alice Springs

A 41-year-old woman has been charged with unlawfully cause serious harm, following an incident that occurred in Alice Springs.

Constable First Class Ron Guascoine from the Southern Domestic Violence Protection Unit said the incident occurred on Monday 12 March.

“It was reported that the woman and a 69-year-old wheelchair bound man had an argument before the man went to bed,” Constable First Class Guascoine said.

“It is alleged that later that night, she entered the man’s bedroom and poured hot water over him.

“The man got in his wheelchair, went outside and flagged down a passing motorist.”

The woman was charged yesterday with unlawfully cause serious harm, fail to rescue and armed with an offensive weapon and was remanded to appear in the Alice Springs Court 24 May 2012.

The victim was taken to Alice Springs Hospital and transferred to Royal Adelaide Hospital.
