Woman Assaulted – Stuart Park - Update

A 21-year-old woman has been arrested over the assault of a victim at a car park in Stuart Park on 18 July 2012.

Serious Crime Squad Detectives investigating the incident said the assault occurred around 4:00am outside the McDonalds car park on the Stuart Highway.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board said Serious Crime Squad Detectives executed a search warrant at a house in Palmerston this morning resulting in the arrest of a 21-year-old female and a 23-year-old male.

“It is alleged a 22-year-old female victim and her friend were sitting in the car park when the offenders arrived in a vehicle and parked nearby,” Detective Senior Sergeant Board said.

“The 21-year-old woman exited the vehicle with two males aged 23 and 20 years who were both carrying bats.

“The female offender assaulted the victim by punching her to the face before fleeing the scene.

“The victim was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital and treated for injuries to her face.

“The three alleged offenders have been summonsed to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court on 19 September."

The alleged female offender will face charge of:

  • Aggravated assault

The alleged male offenders will face charges of:

  • Armed in public
  • Possess/carry offensive weapon
