Witnesses to Todd Mall incident sought – Alice Springs

Police

A 40-year-old male has been arrested following a reckless driving rampage that occurred in the Todd Mall this morning.

Acting Senior Sergeant Siiri Tennosaar said it is alleged that the man, driving a white Toyota Hiace van, entered the southern end of the Todd Mall at around 9:50 am.

“He has then driven through the mall, reaching speeds of up to 70kms per hour, causing pedestrians to move out of the path of the vehicle. He has also crashed into a number of signs,” said Acting Senior Sergeant Tennosaar.

“Police are canvassing businesses in the Todd mall to identify witnesses. Anyone who witnessed the matter is urged to call Police on 131 444 if they have not yet been spoken to.

“Initial reports indicate that no one was injured during the incident.”
