Weather Advice 3 – Alice Springs

Police

Police and NT Emergency Service personnel advise that the Bureau of Meteorology (BOM) cancelled the severe weather warning for the Alice Springs District.

Regional Controller Michael Murphy said that although the warning has been cancelled, we continue to urge people to adhere to our previous messages.

“Rainfall of approximately 40-60mm is still expected in the north eastern Alice Springs Districts,” Commander Murphy said.

“Isolated falls can be expected throughout the afternoon and tomorrow which could lead to stream rises and localised flooding.

“Although that means the worst of the weather has past Alice Springs, I still urge people to stay out of the Todd River and any other flooded pipes and drains.

“The water that temporarily crossed the causeways has now dropped, and I encourage people to drive cautiously in these areas.”
