Northern Territory Police are allowing residents to return to their homes, which have this afternoon been the subject of a lock down operation during the manhunt for Jonathon Andrew Stenberg.

The 46-year-old is wanted in relation to the murder of a 54-year-old male at Broadwater, New South Wales, on the 21st of June 2012.

“Intelligence suggested Mr Stenberg was in the vicinity of the Cox Peninsula Road, where Police have since recovered his vehicle.” Said Crime Commander Richard Bryson.

“More than 100 Officers were dedicated to searching the area.”

“People have now been allowed to return home and provided with Police and Crime Stoppers contact numbers should they notice anything out of place around their premises upon their return.” Said Crime Commander Richard Bryson.

“While residents can return home, we ask them to remain vigilant and lock their houses and vehicles.”

“A large Police presence will remain in the region overnight to monitor the area and respond to any reports.” Said Cmdr Bryson.

“The community is reminded Mr Stenberg remains on the run and is considered armed and dangerous. If seen he is not to be approached.”

“Police thank the public for their assistance and patience in this matter.”
