Police

NT Emergency Service (NTES) Volunteers were kept busy overnight, conducting a vertical rescue in Darwin City.

Northern Regional Manager Gary James from NTES said the NTES Volunteers were called to the scene at around 7:30pm, stating a 38-year-old man had fallen down the cliffs on The Esplanade.

“The man was located approximately 10 metres down the cliff with an injured leg. He was placed on a litter and winched to safety by the NTES Vertical Rescue Response Team,” Northern Regional Manager James from NTES said.

“In total, 13 NTES volunteers assisted with the rescue.

“The NTES Volunteers, with assistance from Police and NT Fire and Rescue Service, worked together swiftly and effectively to recover the man.

“He was taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment for a suspected dislocated ankle.”
