Vehicle crash – Tiger Brennan Drive

Police

A 57-year-old man remains in hospital following a crash between a four wheel drive and an excavator bucket.

Watch Commander Greg Pusterla said the crash occurred at around 10:45am on Tiger Brennan Drive, approximately 500m west of the Amy Johnson Avenue intersection.

“It appears a Kenworth Prime Mover, carrying a backhoe, was travelling outbound along Tiger Brennan Drive when it passed a Nissan Patrol travelling inbound,” Watch Commander Pusterla said.

“An excavator bucket was sitting within the backhoe’s bucket and appears to have come loose and fallen from the trailer, striking the Nissan as it passed.

“Both the 57-year-old driver and the 35-year-old male passenger were taken to Royal Darwin Hospital for treatment.

“The 49-year-old male driver of the Prime Mover was uninjured.

“Police are now investigating the exact circumstances surrounding the incident.”
