Police are investigating the unlawful entry and attempted theft of an ATM at Caltex Coolalinga on the Stuart Highway early this morning.

Detective Sergeant Mark Bland said two offenders attended the service station at around 2:40am in a white ute and immediately proceeded to break into the store.

“The CCTV footage captured at the location clearly shows a male, wearing a hooded jacket, leave the vehicle and smash his way through the front door,” Detective Sergeant Bland said.

“The man attempted to place a rope around the ATM and drive off, however the rope snapped and the offenders fled the scene.

“The vehicle is described as a white Triton utility with a wooden tray.

“Police urge anyone who may recognise the vehicle, or the people involved, to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
