Members of Strike Force Trident have charged a 22-year-old male in relation to an unlawful entry that occurred at Darwin’s Deck Chair Cinema this morning.

It is alleged the male entered the premises at around 2:35am with three youths, by taking the door off its hinges and proceeded to look around however found nothing of interest.

Acting Senior Sergeant Rob De Vos said the alleged offenders fled the scene on foot after setting off the security alarm, and were seen heading in the direction of the Esplanade.

“Police responded rapidly and conducted patrols of the Esplanade where the man and youths were located a short time later and arrested,” Acting Senior Sergeant De Vos said.

“The man has been charged with aggravated enter a building with intent and trespass on an enclosed premises and will appear in court at a later date.”

The youths are expected to be charged later today with similar offences.
