Two prisoners escape custody - Berrimah

Police

Police are currently searching for two prisoners who escaped from the Darwin Correctional Facility last night.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Chris Board of the General Crime Section said the two men, both aged 22, were in the minimum security section of the prison.

“At approximately 6:00 pm the two climbed a perimeter security fence and escaped into a nearby paddock,” said Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Board.

The two men are described as follows:

Prisoner one, Michael Binsaris is described to be of aboriginal appearance with a fair complexion, 176 cm’s tall and of medium build. He has short hair and is clean shaven.

Prisoner two, Dominic Gurruwiwi is described to be of aboriginal appearance, 172cm’s tall and of average build. He has short hair and is also clean shaven.

“They were last seen wearing green t-shirts and khaki shorts.

“If anyone sees either of these men, or has information relating to their whereabouts, Police urge them not to approach the men but to contact Police immediately on 131 444. “
