Two Arrests for Unlawful Entry - Alice Springs

Police

Police have arrested two men for separate incidents in Alice Springs overnight.

A 17 year-old allegedly attempted to kick in the front door of a tavern at about 11pm before throwing a brick through the window.  Once inside the man is alleged to have stolen bottles of wine.

Detective Acting Superintendent Travis Wurst said good observation from CCTV operators alerted Police and the man was apprehended a short time later.

“He was in a nearby park about to enjoy his ill-gotten gains when Police arrived and took him into custody.  He was charged with Unlawful Entry and Stealing.”

At about 2am Police responded to a report of a person breaking into a business on Railway Terrace.

It was alleged a 17 year-old forced the front door of the building and once inside caused damage to a cash register and office equipment.

“Rapid response by Police has caught this young man in the process of exiting the building.  He was charged with Unlawful Entry and Criminal Damage.”  Det. A/Supt Wurst said.

“Overall it was two good results for Policing in Alice Springs and we will continue to target this kind of offending.  The message we want to send to these criminals is anti-social behaviour will not be tolerated and you will be caught.”
