Northern Territory Police have been contacted by several members of the public this morning reporting receiving SMS texts as follows;

“Sum 1 paid me to kill you. Get spared, 48hrs to pay $5000. If you inform the police or anybody, death is promised. Email me now killerking247@yahoo.com”

Detective Superintendent Tony Fuller said similar reports have been received across other states of Australia and the communication is considered to be a scam.

“People should not be alarmed by the text and are advised to not respond or use the email link provided and not to pay any money,” said Detective Superintendent Fuller.

Persons receiving this communication can report the matter via the scamwatch.gov.au website or if they remain concerned to their local Police.
