Taskforce Raven – Week One

Police

Taskforce Raven has seen the arrest of more than 20 alleged offenders in its first week of operation.

Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Mark Stringer said Detectives from the Drug and Organised Crime Squad and Tactical Teams have been busy arresting known drug and property offenders since the operation began on Monday 23 July.

“Taskforce members have executed seven search warrants, issued four Drug Infringement Notices and apprehended 23 people for a total of 38 alleged offences. We are determined to make life as difficult as possible for those who prey upon the community by pushing drugs, breaking into homes and vehicles and stealing property” Detective Acting Senior Sergeant Stringer said.

Drugs seized during these searches include the following:

  • 27.8 grams of amphetamine
  • 142 grams of cannabis
  • 2 cannabis plants
  • 5 vials of steroids

“Detectives have also seized three weapons and recovered 25 stolen items, valued at more than $17,000. Recovered stolen items include lap top computers, cameras, GPS and mobile phones.

“Police continually attend reports of unlawful entries and soon establish that the doors were unlocked to begin with. I urge everyone to take their home security seriously. A flick of a security door lock can be the determining factor for opportunistic offenders. If it’s not made easy for them, they will more than likely move on.

“Always lock your car doors and never leave items of value in clear view from doors and windows.  If you see anyone acting suspiciously around your house or a neighbours property, please call Police on 131 444.”
