Police are investigating the suspicious death of a 25-year-old man which occurred in Maranboy.
Detective Sergeant Andy Bedwell of the Northern Investigation Section said Police were called to Roper Creek on the Central Arnhem Road at around 11:30 pm on Friday night.
“It was reported to Police that a man had drowned in the creek opposite the bar,” Detective Sergeant Bedwell said.
“Clinic staff were in attendance upon Police arrival and had declared the man deceased.
In a separate incident, a 33-year-old man received facial injuries during an altercation at the same location and was conveyed to Barunga Clinic.
“Police have spoken to a number of witnesses from the scene and will continue to investigate the circumstances surrounding the man’s death, including whether there are links between the incident involving the 33-year-old and the drowning.”
