Emergency services were called to a house fire at Hunt Court in Katherine this morning.

Katherine Police Superintendent Gavin Kennedy said a call for assistance was received around 9am.

“An emergency call was received advising of a house fire at Hunt Court in Katherine,” Superintendent Kennedy said.

“Police, Fire and St John Ambulance immediately attended to find the three bedroom, low level, metal-clad house fully engulfed in flames.

“Firefighters donned breathing apparatus to fight the fire in gusty wind conditions. No one was home at the time of the blaze.

“The fire was extinguished by about 10.30am.

“There is no information as yet as to whether there was anyone inside the house at the time of the fire starting and there is no information as yet as to the cause of the fire.

“The house has been fully destroyed and investigators are on scene. Investigations will begin when the scene is declared safe.”
