Stolen Vehicles - Katherine

Police

Police are currently investigating a recent spate of stolen cars in the suburb of Katherine East after one vehicle was stolen on Sunday night and a further two in the early hours of Wednesday morning.

One vehicle has since been recovered by Police, however, a white Nissan XTRAIL and a silver Toyota Prado are yet to be located.

Detective Senior Sergeant Clint Sims of the Northern Investigation Section said it is believed the thefts occurred in the early hours of the morning.

“We continue to urge everyone to be vigilant about locking their doors and security screens at night and ensuring their car keys are out of sight from potential offenders,” Detective Senior Sergeant Sims said.

“Police believe two of these thefts to be a result of opportunistic offending as keys were left in the vehicle. We can take minimal efforts to avoid opportunistic crimes such as this occurring.

“Anyone with information about stolen vehicles or the people responsible are urged to call Police on 131444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.”
