Police have charged a 46-year-old female following a stabbing incident that occurred this morning in Coconut Grove.

Detective Acting Sergeant Wayne Newell of the Major Crime Section said it is believed that the 46-year-old and the 45-year-old male victim had an altercation this morning, resulting in the male receiving a stab wound to the chest.

“He remains in hospital in a critical but stable condition,” said Detective Sergeant Newell.

“The alleged offender has been charged with attempted murder and breach of a domestic violence order. She has been remanded in custody to appear in the Darwin Magistrate’s Court on Monday 23 January 2012.

“Police continue to urge any witnesses of the event to contact them on 131 444.”
