A 22-year-old man will face the Alice Springs Magistrates Court this morning, charged in relation to an alleged sexual assault.

Police allege the man dragged a 19-year-old woman into the doorway of a business on the corner of Stott Terrace and Hartley Street, early last Wednesday morning and assaulted her.

“The accused knew the victim as they had previously been in a relationship.” Said Detective Sergeant Janelle Snigg.

The man has been charged with Sexual Intercourse Without Consent, Aggravated Assault, Armed with an Offensive Weapon, two counts of Breaching Bail and two counts of Breaching a Domestic Violence Order.
