Serious Assault - Alice Springs

A 33-year-old man remains in an induced coma in Alice Springs Hospital after being assaulted outside an Alice Springs entertainment venue in the early hours of Saturday morning.

Alice Springs Police have made one arrest, yesterday charging a 20-year-old male Assault causing Serious Harm.  He has been remanded in custody to face court on Monday, 3 December 2012.

“This incident is one of senseless violence, and now one man remains in a critical condition in hospital,” said Detective Superintendent Brent Warren.

“We have seized a number of items from the offender’s residence, which will be subjected to forensic testing.

“Investigators continue to interrogate CCTV footage, and we are hopeful to make further arrests very soon.

“We are following up numerous lines of enquiry, and urge anyone who may have witnessed the assault in the vicinity of Todd Street, opposite the council lawns, around 2.00am on Saturday morning 1st December to come forward.
