Police

A 22-year-old man is due to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court today following a robbery last night.

Police were called to Red Rooster in Palmerston around 10pm with reports that staff had been assaulted and cash stolen.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board from the Serious Crime Squad said it is alleged the offender entered the premises and threatened staff with a syringe and demanded cash.

“The offender allegedly stole a sum of cash from a register before fleeing the location.” Detective Senior Sergeant Board said.

“The man was apprehended by quick responding Police a short time later in a licenced premises.

“This particular robbery put a teenage cashier in a dangerous situation, however he remained calm and handled it well.”

The alleged offender was charged with the following:

  • Robbery while armed – Dangerous weapon
  • Assault – Threaten with firearm/ weapon
  • Armed with an offensive weapon at night
