Reported Abduction - Stuart Park - Update 4

Police

At approximately 6.30pm this evening, Police deployed to the residence in Millner. Monique Edmondson was located and removed to safety by Police.

Commander Richard Bryson confirmed that a male was found deceased inside the residence and two other men were taken into Police custody.

“I can confirm that Joshua Walsh was found deceased at the scene. While the circumstances surrounding his death are now subject to a Police investigation on behalf of the Coroner, his death is not being treated as suspicious.

“Two other males located at the scene were arrested and are currently assisting Police with inquiries. They are an 18-year-old Alawa man and a 46-year-old Milner man. No charges have been laid at this stage.

“The 18-year-old male is believed to have been with Joshua Walsh at the time Monique Edmondson was abducted from the women’s shelter on Wednesday evening.

“As a precautionary measure, Monique Edmondson was taken by Police to Royal Darwin Hospital for assessment.

“Monique is being supported by Police which will include coordination with support agencies as required.

“I would like to thank the public and the media for their cooperative efforts which contributed to her safe recovery this evening.

“This has been and continues to be a significant Police Investigation by Taskforce Sandstorm and I expect a crime scene will be maintained at the Milner residence for some time while a thorough forensic analysis is conducted.” Commander Bryson said.

The investigation into the death of Joshua Walsh will be conducted on behalf of the Coroner.
