Reported Abduction – Stuart Park Update # 1

An extensive operation overnight remains ongoing as members of Major Crime Taskforce Sandstorm continue the search for abducted woman Monique Edmondson, the 25 year old female who is reported to have been forcibly taken from a women’s shelter in Darwin.

Crime and Specialist Support Commander Richard Bryson said police are using all available resources to locate Monique and her alleged abductors.

“Police responded immediately to a report of shots fired at a women’s shelter in Stuart Park overnight, and Taskforce Sandstorm, complete with significant specialist resources, was stood up as the search continues to safely locate Monique.

“Our police members are highly qualified and highly trained to deal with this type of situation and we are using all available resources to locate Monique safely while investigating this matter thoroughly with continued assistance from the public.” said Commander Bryson.

“NT Police are calling for continued public assistance, and if you believe you can assist Police with our enquiries, and help to bring Monique to safety, we urge you to contact Police on 131 444. 

The public is reminded that alleged offender Joshua Walsh is considered armed and dangerous and should not be approached under any circumstances.
