Detectives from the Southern Investigations Division are calling for public assistance after a vehicle was driven though a business in Diarama Village on Larapinta Drive on Saturday.

Superintendent Brent Warren said between 9:30 pm on Friday and 2:10 am on Saturday, two young males have unlawfully entered the Central Australian Aboriginal Congress Men’s Health facility on Gap Road.

“On gaining access to the premises, the two males have entered an office and located car keys, which they used to steal a Toyota Troop Carrier” said Superintendent Warren.

“Shortly after 2:00 am, the offenders have driven the stolen vehicle to BJ’s One Stop Shop on Larapinta Drive.

“CCTV shows the men reverse the Troop Carrier into the window of the store to gain access. The men then tie a snatch strap around the ATM machine, which is located inside the store, in an attempt to wrench the machine from the premises.

“The men were unsuccessful in their attempt and were disturbed by the arrival of security guards. As the males drove off from the premises they struck the security vehicle, causing minor damage. The Toyota Troop Carrier was located abandoned on Melrose Court in Larapinta.”

The two males are described as being of Aboriginal appearance, approximately 18 – 20 years old and of a slim build. The first male was wearing blue jeans, with a dark hooded jumper over a red t-shirt and dark runners. The second male was wearing grey shorts, with a grey hooded jumper over a white t-shirt, white socks and white shoes.
