Serious Crime Detectives are investigating a house fire in Rapid Creek this morning.

Police and Fire and Rescue officers were called to a house fire on Rossiter Street just before 3:30 am this morning.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board from the Serious Crime Squad said significant damage has been caused to the residence.

“It appears the fire may have ignited at the front of the property and quickly spread to the house,” said Detective Senior Sergeant Board.

“Residents were evacuated from neighbouring houses to ensure their safety.

“It is very fortunate no one was harmed and Fire and Rescue officers were quickly able to contain and extinguish the blaze.

“Serious Crime Detectives are today continuing with their investigation to determine the cause and at this stage it is suspected fireworks may have ignited the fire.
