Police Investigate $21,000 Fraud - Alawa

Police

Members from the Serious Crime Squad and Computer Crime Squad have seized around $21,000 in fraudulently obtained property.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board from the Serious Crime Squad said detectives executed a search warrant at a home in Alawa on Friday 2 November in relation to the online purchase of various items using unauthorised credit cards.

“The property consists of electronic items, sporting equipment and clothing, with the majority of items seized still in their original packaging.

“Detectives have also seized computers, phones and various documents to assist in identifying those involved.”

“The investigation identified a total of eight interstate businesses that had fallen victim to this organised syndicate involved in the fraudulent use of credit cards.

“Detectives have spoken to two persons at the Alawa address and investigations are continuing,” Senior Sergeant Board said.
