Police Drug Operation - Operation Maverick Update

Deputy Commissioner Shayne Maines says following the arrest of three people in connection with Operation Maverick on the 17th of May 2012, Investigators from the Northern Territory Police Ethical and Professional Standards and Crime Commands have charged a 30-year-old male Police Officer with:

Possess dangerous drug - trafficable quantity;
Supply Schedule 2 Substance;
Possess a dangerous drug (x3);
Administer a dangerous drug to self;
Possess thing - Administer dangerous drug; and
Stealing a schedule 2 dangerous drug (x2).

The Officer has been suspended from the Police Force without pay and has been remanded in custody until Monday the 21st of May 2012.

Two other people, a 31-year-old man and 22-year-old woman, both from Wagaman have been charged with:

Possess dangerous drug;
Administer dangerous drug;
Possess thing - Administer dangerous drug.

The pair has been granted bail and will appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court on the 14th of June.
