Pair Nabbed for Long Distance Crime Run

Police

An 18-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy have been arrested after taunting Police over a 300 kilometre journey.

Early Tuesday morning it’s alleged two vehicles were stolen from a Fannie Bay residence after offenders found the car keys while breaking into the house.

A short time later the Beachfront Hotel was unlawfully entered and almost two-thousand-four-hundred dollars worth of alcohol was stolen.

“Later that morning it will be alleged the pair drove one of the stolen vehicles to Katherine.” Said Darwin Tactical Team Senior Constable Peter Chapman.

“In Darwin’s rural area, the pair committed numerous traffic offences including driving erratically and driving in a dangerous manner, which resulted in a number of calls of concern to Police from the public.”

“While driving through Adelaide River and Katherine, Police were twice forced to abandon pursuits due to concerns to public safety.” Said Sen Con Chapman.

“Police eventually arrested the pair outside a supermarket in Katherine.”

“To commit offences is bad enough, but to then endanger other people’s lives on the road is completely unacceptable.” Said Sen Con Chapman.

The 18-year-old will appear in the Darwin Magistrates Court today and is facing charges including:

Drive at Speed and in a Manner Dangerous
