Operation Trident Update

Police

As Operation Trident nears the end of its second week, Northern Territory Police continue to target recidivist offenders, property offenders, people accused of assaults and anti-social behaviour.

Assistant Commissioner Peter Bravos said the four week operation is targeting offenders across Darwin, Katherine and Alice Springs.

“The operation will also target those people who have had warrants issued by the courts for their arrest and remain outstanding,” Assistant Commissioner Bravos said.

“The operation has been a success so far, with a total of 76 arrests.

“Police have taken 105 people into protective custody and executed 50 warrants. A further 19 Notices to Appear and 92 Infringement Notices have been issued.

“During this time Police have tipped out 144 litres of alcohol and recovered close to $20,000 worth of stolen property.

“Police have created a list on the NTPF Facebook page, of randomly selected people where records indicate they have failed to attend court and a warrant for their apprehension has been issued.

“With two weeks to go I urge anyone who may have an outstanding warrant to go to their nearest Police Station to have the matter resolved.

“I also urge anyone who may have information relating to alleged offenders who have failed to appear in court, to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000. Remember, you can remain anonymous and you may be eligible for a reward.”
