Operation Pepper Shakes up Tennant

Police

Almost 300 litres of alcohol was destroyed and 44 people taken into Protective Custody during Operation Pepper in Tennant Creek.

Operation Pepper was launched to target anti-social behaviour and alcohol fuelled violence in and around the town.

“The Operation ran from last Thursday morning, through until Sunday afternoon.” Said Superintendent Craig Barrett.

“Taking 44 people into Protective Custody in three-and-a-half days, proves the dangerous level people are prepared to drink to.”

“Protective Custody means these people were so intoxicated they weren’t able to look after themselves, which is just appalling.” Says Supt Barrett

“Further more, six people were arrested for alcohol related incidents and 11 banning notices were issued.”

“People need to take responsibility for their own actions, otherwise Police will remove them from the streets to keep the community safe.” Said Supt Barrett.
