Investigators from Operation Jedi yesterday arrested and charged a 15-year-old male in relation to two unlawful entries and stealing from a motor vehicle in Alice Springs in recent months.

Detective Superintendent Brent Warren said Police were able to make a quick arrest following positive identification from forensic evidence collected from a residence which was broken into on 5 August 2012 in Gillen.

“A search of the alleged offender’s house revealed numerous items believed to be stolen, including mobile phones, laptop computers, cameras and jewellery,” Detective Superintendent Warren said.

“The male youth was granted court bail with strict conditions including curfew, and is due to appear in court on 10 August 2012.

"The alleged offender has been charged with 2 counts of unlawful entry, 2 counts of criminal damage and 3 counts of stealing.

“Operation Jedi was established to reduce the incidence of property and street level drug crime in Alice Springs.

“Investigators use a variety of tools including forensic capabilities, pro-active enforcement of bail conditions, and identification and targeting of recidivist offenders.

“Since commencement on 1 August 2012 Operation Jedi has arrested 9 offenders who have been charged with 33 offences.
