Alice Springs Police have arrested a 16 year-old male in relation to a number of break-ins and a stolen vehicle in the Dessert Springs area over the weekend.

Detective Acting Superintendent Travis Wurst said the youth was taken into custody this morning.

“Police have recovered a set of car keys that were reported stolen over the weekend.  The young man was in the company of others and investigations into the reported incidents are ongoing.”

The youth will be charged with Unlawful Entry, Stealing and Unlawful Use of a Motor Vehicle.

“We understand the concerns of Alice Springs residents about this recent spate of offending.  That is why the Police are working very hard to prevent this type of activity by a small section of the community.  We are following up on a number of leads and more arrests are expected in the near future.”  Detective Acting Superintendent Wurst said.
