Numerous Arrests - Wadeye Update

Police

A further four people have been arrested in Wadeye as Police continue to investigate a violent disturbance that occurred in the town on Monday.

Police have apprehended one offender and charged him in relation to a range of  property offences committed in Wadeye Community; a second  person was arrested  on unrelated offences that had been committed in Darwin prior to the Disturbance; and two people were arrested for their involvement in the disturbance on Monday.  They have both been charged with take part in a riot, riotous behaviour in a public place and armed with an offensive weapon. 

Three people have been Remanded in Custody to appear in Darwin Court on Monday 29 October 2012 with the remaining person granted Bail with Conditions to appear in Wadeye Court on 20 November 2012.    

This brings the number of arrests in Wadeye in the wake of the incident outside the Community Store to 31.

The investigation into the violent disturbance remains ongoing and Police have been overwhelmed by the support of the Community with many individuals coming forward with information to assist Police.
