Commander of Southern Command, Michael Murphy advises that a 33-year-old male Police Officer has been directed to take leave.

“A criminal investigation commenced following an allegation that the Police Officer assaulted security staff at an Alice Springs licensed premises on Sunday 15 January 2012.

“While the investigation remains underway, the Officer has been directed to take leave in accordance with the Police Administration Act.

“There is no further identifying information or details available while the internal investigation continues." Commander Murphy said.
