NT Firefighters Games 2012

Police

Territorians will have the chance to see their firefighters in action this weekend at this year’s NT Firefighters Games.

The Games are being held at Fred’s Pass Reserve this Sunday, 6 May beginning at 9.30am and running late into the afternoon.

District Officer Dave Pettit said this year’s competition is expected to attract teams from fire stations throughout the NT and will test the skills of volunteer, auxiliary, defence and permanent firefighters.

“This will include pump operation, connecting to hydrants and running out hose lines to get water on to target fires as quickly as possible,” District Officer Pettit said.

“The final event is the bucket brigade where everyone gets wet and has a lot of fun.

“The events are timed and teams are awarded points for speed, with deductions for incorrect technique or unsafe practice.

“The competition is great family entertainment and, with free entry and food and drinks available, it should be a great day out for young and old.”
