The judging panel included the Assistant Police Commissioner, a representative from the Department of Children and Families Youth Justice Unit and a representative from the Northern Territory Early Intervention Pilot Program. The panel selected four winners and eight runners-up. Facebook likes determined the winner of the People’s Choice Award.

Ms Gabrielle Murphy from Tennant Creek, Ms Jordan Grantham from Palmerston, Ms Royella Coolwell from Tennant Creek and Ms Clarissa Mclennan from Katherine took out the top four prizes – each winning an Apple iPad, a waterproof camera, an iTunes gift voucher, and an iPod touch.

Ms Ellen Rosalie-Gunner from Alice Springs took out the People’s Choice Award, winning an Apple iPad, an iTunes gift voucher and an iPod touch.

Mr Vincent Canete, Ms Kristin Smith, Ms Denella Corbett-Bryan, Ms Amy James, Ms Tiana Haste, Mr Ethan Grahek, and Mr Thomas Medina were the runners-up each taking home an iTunes gift voucher and iPod touch.

Acting Assistant Commissioner Jamie Chalker said the posters and videos covered a number of issues that affect young people such as road safety, drugs and alcohol, drink driving and cyber bullying.

“It was great to see so many entries from young people across the Territory. Some of the posters were particularly graphic and their visual messages of safety in the community came across loud and clear.

“I would like to thank everyone that entered for their creative designs and messages and a big congratulations to all the winners. The posters and videos will be used to help raise awareness of crime prevention and community safety by Neighbourhood Watch NT.”

This week across the Territory, presentations have and will be held to award the prize recipients. To view the winning entries, check out www.facebook.com/nhwnt.
