Police have released the name and an image of the victim from Wednesday’s homicide in Winnellie.

Superintendent James O’Brien said the remains of the deceased person have been identified as 46-year-old Paul John Stamp.

“It is believed Mr Stamp recently moved to Darwin,” Superintendent James O’Brien said.

“I thank the media and the public for their patience during this time of mourning for the Stamp family, we are assisting them through this very difficult time.

Operation Watto Detectives are continuing to investigate the circumstances surrounding the death of Mr Stamp, and urge anyone who may have information which could assist in the investigation, especially those who may have been in the vicinity of Bombing Road in Winnellie between midnight and 5am on Wednesday, to contact Police on 131 444 or Crime Stoppers on 1800 333 000.
