Police

Nhulunbuy Police have safely located Victoria Turner, the woman feared to have been abducted this morning in Nhulunbuy.

The vehicle of interest in this alleged abduction, a 2008 white Toyota Troop Carrier with NT registration 992306, believed to be stolen, is still outstanding.

Superintendant James O’Brien said the circumstances around the abduction are still sketchy but Victoria Turner is now in police care.

"Police were utilising a helicopter to search the area for the vehicle of interest.  The helicopter spotted the suspect vehicle approximately 30kms from the township, and as the chopper circled the vehicle, the occupants released Mrs. Turner from the car and sped off.

"Police and an ambulance crew responded immediately and I am very pleased to confirm that police have since taken Mrs. Turner into care.  She is currently being treated for injuries sustained in the attack.

"Major Crime detectives from Darwin have been deployed to Nhulunbuy to investigate.  Detectives will be following up all lines of inquiry and I anticipate they will be speaking with Mrs. Turner soon. Police continue the search for the Vehicle of interest.

"We are eager to speak to anyone who may have any information about the 2008 white Toyota Troop Carrier with NT registration 992306 and the alleged offender(s) involved in this incident,” said Superintendent O’Brien.
