Missing Man - Alpurrurulam (Lake Nash) - Located

Police

A 38-year-old man who went missing from Alpurrurulam on Saturday 13 October has been located safe and well.

Superintendent Craig Barrett said the search for Lawrence Campbell was suspended on Friday 19 October after an extensive three day air and ground search.

“Mr Campbell told Police he got bogged near a river and decided to walk to Barkly Downs Station. Mr Campbell walked to the water holes through Austral Downs Station and across into Barkly Downs Station, where is brother was staying,” said Superintendent Barrett.

“Mr Campbell and his brother returned to the community yesterday and attended the local Police Station to advise he was no longer missing.

“Local Police, cattle station workers, members of the community and Queensland Police members from Camooweal covered over 28,000 square kilometres of area in the search for Mr Campbell.

“It is a great outcome for Police and the family of Mr Campbell to have him return to the community safe and well.

“The Northern Territory outback can be a very unforgiving place if you become stranded or lost. If you plan to travel long distances you should always inform someone of your detailed travel plans, including your estimated time of arrival, and carry an EPIRB.”
