Man Charged - Sexual Assault - Bynoe Harbour

A 24-year-old man is due to appear in Darwin Magistrates Court this morning with charges relating to the sexual assault of a 15-year-old male youth.

Investigators from the Child Abuse Taskforce and Sex Crimes Unit yesterday arrested the offender who is alleged to have sexually assaulted the victim in the early hours of Monday morning.

Detective Acting Sergeant Dan Davison said it is alleged the victim was sexually assaulted after being driven by the alleged offender to an isolated area of bush track near Bynoe Harbour.

“Investigators have seized a vehicle believed to be involved in the incident which is being forensically examined for potential evidence,” Detective Acting Sergeant Davison said.

“The alleged offender remains in Police custody and has been charged with three counts of unlawful sexual intercourse with a child under the age of 16 and the indecent assault of a child under the age of 16.”
