Man Charged with Murder - Bathurst Island

A man will this morning face the Darwin Magistrates Court on charges of murder after he was arrested in relation to the death of a man in Parap earlier this year.

After a lengthy investigation, Major Crime Squad Detectives and uniform Members from Wurrumiyanga Community, Bathurst Island, yesterday arrested a 38-year-old in relation to the death of Don Burarrwanga, 61, at the Uniting Church building on the Stuart Highway, Parap, on January 31.

“The dedicated work of Detectives from the Major and Serious Crime Squads together with the assistance of our Police Forensic Specialists has culminated in this arrest,” Detective Sergeant Tony Henrys from the Major Crime Squad said.

“The man was charged with murder and was remanded in custody until he appears in court this morning.”
