Darwin Police yesterday arrested and charged a 50-year-old man with drug offences following a search at a home in the northern suburbs.
Detective Senior Constable First Class Matt Akers said information given to Police lead them to search the home in Jingili where they found methamphetamines, cannabis and a significant amount of cash.
A quantity of methamphetamine and cash was also located in a vehicle driven by the alleged offender, Detective Akers said.
“A quantity of methamphetamine liquid was located in the residence as was $28,000 in cash, a large quantity of clip seal bags and digital scales,” he said.
“The man was charged with supply methamphetamine, possession of a trafficable quantity of methamphetamine and possession of cannabis.”
As yet Police have made no arrests in relation to the cash, Detective Senior Constable First Class Akers said.
“Investigations are continuing and we believe the cash may be the proceeds of crime,” he said.
“There may be further prosecutions in relation to the search.”
The man is due to appear in court on 9 March 2012.
