Man Arrested for Home Invasion Jingili

Within 24 hours of an unlawful entry in Jingili, Serious Crime Squad Detectives have identified, arrested and charged a 26-year-old man.

Detective Senior Sergeant Chris Board, Officer in Charge of the Serious Crime Squad said the man is alleged to have attended the residence armed with a cricket bat at around 12:30am yesterday morning (Thursday 9 August).

“The 24-year-old couple inside were woken when their front door was kicked in,” Detective Senior Sergeant Board said.

“The man allegedly entered the home armed with the bat, pushed the female and threatened the male occupant. The man demanded the return of his missing mobile phone which he had lost earlier.

“He fled the scene and was not known to the occupants. Yesterday afternoon Detectives arrested the man in Nakara.

He was charged with aggravated unlawful entry to a dwelling and two counts of aggravated assault.

The man received bail and is to appear in the Darwin Magistrate’s Court on 12 September 2012.
